The Science Beneath the Surface
Why the Subfloor Matters Just as Much as the Flooring
Every flooring system starts with the surface underneath it. If the subfloor is uneven, unstable, damaged, dirty, or holding excess moisture, even high-quality flooring can begin to shift, crack, squeak, swell, separate, or fail prematurely.
Different flooring materials also respond differently to moisture, temperature, and movement. Hardwood naturally expands and contracts, concrete slabs can release moisture, and tile depends on a strong mortar bond and properly prepared substrate.
Professional installation accounts for these conditions before the finished flooring goes down, helping every layer work together as a stable system.
